Tom Ray
Founding Investor
Tom Ray is a founding investor of Quannah Partners. Tom was formerly the Chairman, CEO, and a Co-Founder of EdgeCore Data Centers, a US-based data center investment and operating company, as well as Chairman and Managing Member of Mount Elbert Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused upon real assets, including real estate and internet infrastructure. Mr. Ray brings over $10 billion of real estate experience to Quannah Partners, including over $5.0 billion in data centers. Prior to EdgeCore, Tom was President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of CoreSite Realty Corporation (NYSE: COR). Tom was a founder of CoreSite and led the company's strategy and growth from its inception in 2001 through its IPO in 2010 until his retirement from the company in 2016.
Prior to and contemporaneously with his tenure at CoreSite until its 2010 IPO, Tom was a member of the US Realty Team at The Carlyle Group, where he was a Managing Director responsible for sourcing and managing investments in North America across multiple property types. Prior to Carlyle, Tom held roles of increasing responsibility with Security Capital Group and its affiliates (Prologis, CarrAmerica, and predecessors to Archstone-Smith), where he was responsible for various acquisition and development functions in the US and Europe, including as a founding member of Prologis' European operations. Prior to Security Capital, Tom was an attorney practicing real estate, tax and commercial law.
Tom holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Denver, a Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law, and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
